Hi, my name is Jiawen Li, I majors in interior and spacial design——a future spacial worker who wants to provide different users with different kinds of spaces; a student who was attracted by home decoration art 4 years ago, and changed her way of design thinking through the 4-years professional learning, but still like to use her “intuition”; a person who like those public spaces with unlimited potential on people’s interaction much more than those private and ruled spaces; and also a person who are interested in almost everything, while still looking for a valuable point to focus on. Yeah, that’s me, nice to meet you!

My interest in space design originated from the wishes to translate drawing into something real and concrete, which can be experienced genuinely. I started to enjoy drawing from a kid, and drawing enables me to start my observation of different feelings given by different existing spaces and cities I’ve traveled to. Today, I have grown to see design as a research and translation activity that creates touching experiences. Looking back after four years of study, I remember vividly when I saw the tears coming out from the house-owner, who was only presented with drawings and on the first visit to the new house in a TV program; that was the moment that I made a firm decision on choosing space design as my major.

As a result of understanding space design from many different aspects, I am recently fascinated by adaptive re-use, rejuvenation and reinstatement of existing structures and buildings. I wish to explore further on this subject through creative methods and advanced tools together with my interest in narrative space in order to suggest a more sustainable yet enriching strategy for them, which could become a useful reference for the fast developing country like China in the near future.
