The portal in 'the Shinning'
for vinyl lovers
This project is mainly about designing a portal in the movie ‘The Shining’ which can leads people in the overlook hotel out to the public. Starting with the survival item which our main characters may take with when getting through the portal.
I chose a vinyl record and its player, and located the portal in the 'the Goldroom'. This portal can bring people with their vinyl records out and into a Parallel 'Goldroom', during this journey, people will be guided by the installations, break the culture barrier and escape together.

laughter is always a common language just as music, and it was used in this project as an entrance strategy at the very beginning of the portal.
All the materials used in the interior of the portal ware selected from the initial record player: they were brown leather, brass, black mesh fabric and red velvet, this method of thinking expanded the possibility of materials use at a different range of scales.
This project is an experimental project, mainly discussing a new space constructing way and a more flexible way of combination in modular space design project.
